Money has become the drug of our civilisation. Confronted with this phenomenon, citizens all over the world are inventing complementary currencies for social ends and are opening the debate ”what is money for?”

This is a 54 minute documentary featuring a Timebank in the UK, the German Chiemgauer currency and a local exchange trading system (LETS) in France, showing how money becomes a social tool at the service of people. Interviews with Patrick Viveret, Bernard Lietaer, Dominique Plihon, Héloïsa Primavera and Michael Linton.

This film started with the First Forum of Complementary Currencies (July 2004 - Bad Honnef (Germany)). During this meeting we interviewed a lot of specialists like Margrit Kennedy or Michael Linton. Then Christian Gellery received us in Bavaria for a shooting about the Chiemgauer currency. We continued in England where Martin Simons explained us the Time Bank System. And we finished at home with the Lets of Paris.

Hello,
Perhaps you remenber that we met us in the first complementary currencies
forum in july 2007 at Bad Honef. Since this time we have finished our
documentary about money and currency, wich has « The two faces of money »
for title. It¹s about Time Bank, Chiemgauer, but official money to. Now this
movie is translated in English, German and Spanish. So we are happy that
people in Europe could show it in DVD. We hope that our movie will be
usefull for the actors of complementary currencies.

Jct: Best of all, when the local currency is pegged to the Time Standard of Money (how many dollars/hour child labor) Hours earned locally can be intertraded with other timebanks globally!
In 1999, I paid for 39/40 nights in Europe with an IOU for a night back in Canada worth 5 Hours.
U.N. Millennium Declaration UNILETS Resolution C6 to governments is for a time-based currency to restructure the global financial architecture.
